Welcome to 40 Days of Worship - our Lent reflection for 2022.
Each day has a different song selected by someone in the congregation, a Bible verse and a thought that explains why the song is important to them or how it links to Lent and Easter.
You can access it in a couple of different ways:
Option 1 - Download the entire booklet from the first blog post and follow it through on the PDF file.
Option 2 - Each day the song, verse and thought will appear (late afternoon the day before) so that you can just focus on that day's song.  This will also allow you to comment any thoughts that come to you that you think would be helpful for others to also know.
Either way, we hope and pray that this shared journey through Lent will help us to worship our God more in every way.

Day 2 - 3rd March: Onward Christian Soldiers

Joshua 6
V16: The seventh time they marched around the city, the priests blew their trumpets.
Then Joshua gave the command: “Now, shout! The Lord is giving you this city!

Alan and Albert both chose this song to get us to reflect on previous experiences and how we are soldiers for God.
We have all been through different ‘battles’ in our lives and the only way to get through them is to seek out and then follow God’s will.
In Joshua 6, the Israelites are obedient to following a rather strange battle plan in order to take Jericho.  But onward they marched.
Jesus was given a rather strange ‘battle plan’ in order to save us – becoming obedient to death for us.
What is God’s ‘battle plan’ for your current situation or next adventure with Him?

Thank you again for this encouraging post.
Today’s reflection is a great reminder for me of what I always tell myself when trials of every form comes way; I always remind my self that “God has a better plan”
Trials whether small or huge causes me to panic and worry but i thank Jesus and His comforting Words and His promise that He will strengthen us and will always be with us in all our battles.

Love this version of this tune! As a brass band musician and married into a family with roots in Yorkshire, this brought a smile to my face at the start of my day.
