Welcome to 40 Days of Worship - our Lent reflection for 2022.
Each day has a different song selected by someone in the congregation, a Bible verse and a thought that explains why the song is important to them or how it links to Lent and Easter.
You can access it in a couple of different ways:
Option 1 - Download the entire booklet from the first blog post and follow it through on the PDF file.
Option 2 - Each day the song, verse and thought will appear (late afternoon the day before) so that you can just focus on that day's song.  This will also allow you to comment any thoughts that come to you that you think would be helpful for others to also know.
Either way, we hope and pray that this shared journey through Lent will help us to worship our God more in every way.

Day 4 - 5th March: All the way my saviour leads me

Proverbs 16:9
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

This classic hymn reminds us that our Lord has plans for our lives that we can choose to follow.  Jesus knew that He had a plan given for Him to follow, which included being tested in the wilderness by the Devil.  The first of the temptations is to create bread from stones.  And Jesus refused, instead trusting in God rather than misusing his powers to satisfy his own needs.
Later on in the Gospels, Jesus comments that He is the bread of life, which we can follow and use to nourish our lives, which is picked up at the end of the first verse of the hymn.
How are you doing at following God’s plan for your life?

Thank You Jesus for nourishing our souls with Your Word.
What really hits me deep while listening to this hymn is the words that says” Jesus doeth all things well”
I am not always confident if every decisions i make is aligned with God’s will for me, but I am confident that at the end of the day I know God’s plans for me will prevail

There are two thoughts that have particularly touched me with this song. Firstly that God leads us throughout our lives, and certainly through the difficult times as well as those that seem relatively plain sailing! The second is that He has the power to lead us safely into our "forever" life after death!
