I was assigned a godparent as a child; of course, we never talked together about God. Assigning a godparent to a child was just something that people did then, even in not-really-Christian families. It was more a social thing really. Steve’s suggestion that, we should “all be godparents in the sense that Paul was to Timothy …” came as a jolt to me. I hadn’t thought about that, and of course now is an opportunity to think about it more!
